Profiles

Zim uses "profiles" to let separate configuration sets coexist. This allows for example to have slightly different behavior for the read-only manual. Another use is to keep different sets of plugins for different notebooks. Also you can control the display style per profile.

There are two profiles installed by default, one called "default" and one called "reader"; "reader" is used for the manual and sets the interface to read-only behavior and doesn't load any plugins. All other notebooks use "default".

To define a new profile the only thing that is needed is a configuration file with the name of the profile. For example for a "debug" profile we should define a configuration file called "debug.conf". See config for details. Using a a profile that doesn't exist yet will automatically copy the default configuration and write the profile configuration.

You can specify a profile either from the commandline or in the notebook configuration file.
